I struggled finding an solution for the word “Fracture”. I started off with the concept of broken glasses. I slowly continued with this concept and it involves into broken fortunes, broken futures. A boy seeing every fortunes in from of him, and hating all of it.

A concept drawing work. I recently found out that this got into the VCU student show at the Anderson Gallery, so I’m pretty happy about that. It is certainly one of my more technical piece. The theme is “Rhyme”. Visual rhyme was what I was aiming for. The rhymes can be seen in the placement of the swimmers as well their rhythmic motion in comparison with the moon at the top. I started off with a word rhyme of “swim” and “trim”, but it slowly evolve into visual rhyme rather than auditory rhyming.
